No Shorts
Vertical video content is ubiquitous today.
TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels… this format has become the norm on most major platforms, and it's very effective at capturing attention.
We've chosen not to include it.
Not because we think the format is inherently bad, but because the mechanisms behind it don't align with our values.
Short-form video platforms rely heavily on rapid and continuous consumption. On average, a user spends nearly 57 minutes a day watching this type of content[1], and creators have only a few seconds to hold their attention before they scroll to the next video[2].
This dynamic influences how content is created.
When you need to convince a user in seconds, the priority often becomes capturing their attention immediately, sometimes at the expense of depth and content quality.
That's why FairPlay won't offer a "Shorts" format or infinite scrolling of vertical videos.
We prefer to foster more intentional consumption, where users choose the content they want to watch.
