Values

Our mission

We want to make FairPlay a community space, where users, creators, and developers are treated as actors in the project and not as a product.

What we want to build

  • A sustainable platform
  • An open platform
  • A 100% public and documented API
  • A community project
  • Human moderation
  • Transparent rules
  • And reusable code for anyone who wants to use it

What we don't want to become

We're not aiming to become the biggest video platform. We're not trying to maximize screen time, it's actually the opposite, we want to encourage our users to take greater control of their content consumption. We don't want our growth to come at the expense of quality.

For Users

Users use the app, not the other way around. No dark patterns and opaque algorithms, it's as simple as that. We also plan to integrate a 100% customizable feed feature, which should be coming in the future.

For Creators

Creators must retain control of their work. That's why FairPlay creators can choose between wide range of licenses, from copyrighted to public domain. Here are the available licenses:

  • All Rights Reserved (full copyright)
  • Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0)
  • Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0)
  • Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-ND 4.0)
  • Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 (CC BY-NC 4.0)
  • Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)
  • Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0)
  • Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Public Domain Dedication

For Developers

One of our worries is that everyone starts building their own platform on their side. We think the best way to create a sustainable platform is to make it open, so that everyone can develop the tool or interface of their choice on a shared platform.

That's why we offer:

  • OpenAPI support
  • SDK generation (not fully functionnal out of the box yet)
  • Swagger documentation
