Star Rating

Over the years, most platforms have gradually reduced user feedback to a simple "Like" button, sometimes without even offering a "Dislike" button.

Spoiler: we've taken the opposite approach.

A Like/Dislike system is very simple to use, but it remains binary: it's yes or no.

We think that such a system describes a user's immediate reaction ("I liked this video") more accurately than their overall appreciation of the content (yes, it's subtle, but important).

A five-star rating allows for a more nuanced opinion.

A video can be excellent without being perfect. On the conctrary, a video can be interesting despite some flaws. Stars allow us to represent these situations, whereas a simple "Like" button leaves no room for nuance.

We don't want to measure the popularity of content, but to allow users to express a more precise evaluation of what they have watched.

We understand that this system requires a little extra effort. Assigning a rating takes a bit longer than pressing a button.

However, we think this trade-off is worthwhile.
